Dr. Carmon Robert Naples bought a 237-acre land in this area in Silver Spring in 1951 from the Bonifant Family. The huge property also came with an old but large farmhouse built around the 1860s. Dr. Naples and his wife sold the 3-acre farmhouse, which became a private home located along Bonifant Road. The historical private residence is still standing today.

Some of the portions of the huge land were sold to the Maryland National Capitol Park and Planning Commission, which became significant developments in the community of Naples Manor. One of the areas was used to establish the National Trolley Museum while some portions became the Northwest Branch Park.
